Socio-technical systems and sociomaterial practices
This is the second in a series of seminars inviting collective reflection on key concepts in the STS vocabulary that have played an important role in shaping scholarly debate. The series provides a space to examine how these concepts are used, their theoretical implications, and how their meanings and uses evolve across research practices.
This session will focus on the sociotechnical and the sociomaterial, exploring their origins, connections and the tensions that arise when they become taken for granted in research. Designed to encourage sustained dialogue, the seminar will bring together a small group of participants. A brief opening contribution by Attila Bruni will set the stage for an extended exchange and collective discussion.
